LANDSCAPE
A sense of urban magic
Anshun is famous for its natural attractions, grand waterfalls, karst landforms, and unique mountain scapes. The masterplan puts landscape at the forefront, helping to define a special feeling for visitors coming to Anshun and residents looking for a healthy environment in which to live. The Boulevard and Promenade Retail streets frame views of adjacent mountains and the green terraces on higher floors offer stunning panoramic vistas. Landscape Strategy
The plan incorporates unique and engaging water features in each parcel, from a continuous waterway along the principal boulevard to reflecting ponds, grand fountains, ponds, and pools. Trees are used both to shade retail streets and planted more densely to offer park like settings for leisurely walks, picnicking, and meditation. The landscape is not limited to the ground plane, but extends skyward, clearly visible in terrace plantings, green roofs, and sky gardens.

Inspired by the success of The Highline in New York City, the desirability of a truly walkable city, and the magic of nature trails, the masterplan incorporates a series of trails that link activities throughout all the parcels. The trails bridge streets at levels 2 and 3 and join different buildings together. As the trails link buildings at higher levels they become increasingly exclusive. The trail at level 2 provides an extended pedestrian friendly retail street that increase the value of second floor rentals and generates more energy throughout the district. At level 3 there is a continuous network of walking and biking trails that serve the thousands of residents. These trails link a series of community oriented commercial spaces, activity centers, and elevated parks. The elevated protected landscapes allow children to play safely and for friends to walk freely from village to village. The overall development promises to be a popular model for naturally beautiful, community friendly, and commercially energized cities worldwide.
